My Home in the Cloud
We needed to pick up a couple pairs of shorts and some t-shirts, and while things at the resort are nice, they’re pretty pricey. So we caught a cab into Nassau and picked up a few things!
We didn’t visit the Pirate Museum that we went through on our honeymoon back in the last century, but it was cool to see that it was still there. We also played a horrible game of pool. The nice thing about two comparably bad people playing pool is that the game lasts a while.
Today I was proud to be a part of the greatest comeback victory in the history of shuffleboard. In the name of protecting the innocent I won’t say who came back from down 37 – negative 13 to win. But I believe we have a picture of him below.
We had a fantastic time today, as Captain Junkanoo of Pirate Jeep Tours showed us around New Providence Island. He taught us a lot of the history of the area, with a focus on pirates. And we sampled local chocolate, wine and rum.

It took me a surprisingly long time to learn that “Cay” is pronounced “Key.” Anyway, spent a lot of yesterday on Sandals’ private island in the Bahamas. It’s quieter than the main resort, and while we like the exciting atmosphere, it was really nice to spend a quiet day looking over the water.
Day one of vacation and somehow we’re already on stage with the band! Woke up in Boston, and spent the evening at Sandals in the Bahamas.
I understand the idea of creating universally understandable signage, but sometimes a few extra words could help. If this truly means “don’t exit if the plane is on fire,” I don’t think I’m going to obey this sign.
Of all the castles we visited, Dromoland made us feel most like royalty. The service, the grounds, and the walled garden were all spectacular. It may have been a good thing we were only there for a day, as I’m not sure we could have left otherwise!

From the moment we arrived at Abbeyglen Castle, we felt at home. The owner and staff always greeted us by name, and a nightly toast included great stories about the history of the castle and the nearby town of Clifden.

It’s a shame we only had one day to spend at Lough Eske in Donegal, but we made the most of it! In fewer than 24 hours we had a horse and buggy ride and spa treatments to celebrate our 25th anniversary on the 12th.

After a whirlwind tour of Dublin, our first stop was at Cabra Castle in Cavan. The grounds were gorgeous and the food and service were top-notch. We also visited our first real Irish pub and took in some history at the Carrickmacross Workhouse.
